Congratulations to our 2017 Teacher Grant Recipients!

We are pleased to announce the recipients of our 2017 Teacher Grant Award. The credit union began this program in an effort to assist their members who are educators in funding equipment, supplies or training.

The recipients are:

Melissa Lopes

Melissa Lopes, Media Specialist at Windsor Locks High School in Windsor, CT. Ms. Lopes is using the grant funds to fund a Reality Check financial game for students that will teach them about personal finance including how to look for a job, paying bills, budgeting, investments, retirement and more.

Carmen Nuccio, Jr.

Carmen S. Nuccio, Jr., Science Teacher at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Enfield, CT. Mr. Nuccio is using the grant funds to purchase Wind Turbines and an experiment kit. Students will use these items and apply their math and science skills to calculate the use of wind as an alternative to fossil fuels.

"Being a member of the credit union means paying almost no fees but still getting the services of a big corporate bank. I've been a member of the credit union for so many years that I signed the papers for my first car loan in the living room of the Cowles’ home on Frew Terrace in Enfield!! When I call the credit union I always get clear instructions and an answer to my question, and I can go into the office and actually meet with the person I spoke with on the phone!!
